A creamy, cheesy, beefy casserole topped with crispy golden tater tots. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner!
🛒 Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (10.5 oz / 298 g) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup sour cream
½ cup milk
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp paprika
1 bag (28–32 oz / 800–900 g) frozen tater tots
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, optional
👩🍳 Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook the beef:
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking up the meat, until browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess grease.
Add garlic and seasoning:
Stir in the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for another minute.
Make it creamy:
Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and milk until smooth and well combined.
Add cheese:
Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
Assemble:
Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup cheddar cheese over the top.
Add tater tots:
Arrange the frozen tater tots in an even layer over the cheese.
Bake:
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the tater tots are crispy and golden brown and the casserole is bubbling around the edges.
Finish and serve:
Let rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley if desired and serve hot.
