🍗 Oven-Baked Chicken Americana
A classic, comforting baked chicken dish with crispy, golden chicken and a savory, buttery coating. Easy enough for a weeknight dinner and delicious with mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.
🛒 Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
2 large eggs
¼ cup milk
½ cup seasoned breadcrumbs
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
2 cloves garlic, minced
Fresh parsley, for garnish
Lemon wedges, for serving
👩‍🍳 Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
Prepare the chicken. If the breasts are thick, gently pound them to an even thickness of about ½–¾ inch.
Set up the coating.
In one shallow bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
In a second bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning.
Coat the chicken. Dip each chicken breast into the seasoned flour, then the egg mixture, and finally the breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture. Press gently so the coating sticks.
Make the garlic butter. Stir together melted butter, olive oil, and minced garlic.
Bake. Arrange the chicken in the prepared dish and drizzle the garlic butter mixture evenly over the top.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, depending on thickness, until the coating is golden and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
For extra crispiness, turn on the broiler for 1–2 minutes at the end, watching carefully so it doesn’t burn.
Rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
