Fried Cabbage with Bacon

Fried Cabbage with Bacon
Ingredients:
6 slices bacon, chopped
1 medium head cabbage, cored and chopped
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons butter (optional, for extra richness)
½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 8–10 minutes.
Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving about 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings in the pan.
Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to coat it with the bacon drippings.
Season with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes if using.
Cook over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender with lightly browned edges. Add the butter during the last few minutes if desired.
Return the crispy bacon to the skillet and toss everything together. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.
