Smoky sausage, caramelized onions, and a sweet-and-savory glaze come together in this quick and comforting skillet meal. Serve it over mashed potatoes, rice, or with crusty bread for an easy dinner.
Ingredients
1 lb smoked sausage (such as kielbasa), sliced into ½-inch rounds
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup beef broth or chicken broth
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the sliced onions and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and deeply golden.
Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the sliced sausage and cook for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned.
In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and smoked paprika.
Pour the glaze over the sausage and onions. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
Simmer for 3–5 minutes, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
Season with black pepper to taste.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
