Homemade Coconut Chocolate Bars
These homemade coconut chocolate bars have a soft, sweet coconut filling coated in rich chocolate. They’re easy to make and taste just like your favorite candy bars!
Ingredients
Coconut Filling
2½ cups (200 g) unsweetened shredded coconut
1 cup (300 g) sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Chocolate Coating
2 cups (340 g) milk or dark chocolate chips, or chopped chocolate
1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil (optional, for a smoother coating)
Instructions
Line a loaf pan or small square baking pan with parchment paper.
In a bowl, combine the shredded coconut, condensed milk, vanilla, and salt until well mixed.
Press the mixture firmly into the prepared pan, about 2 cm (¾ inch) thick.
Refrigerate for 1–2 hours, or until firm.
Lift the coconut mixture from the pan and cut into bars or squares.
Melt the chocolate with the coconut oil in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval, or melt it in a heatproof bowl over simmering water.
Dip each coconut bar into the melted chocolate, coating all sides.
Place the coated bars on a parchment-lined tray.
Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
Tips
Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor or milk chocolate for a sweeter treat.
Decorate with a drizzle of white chocolate or a sprinkle of toasted coconut.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
