🍎 Healthy Apple Oat Snack
Ingredients
- 1 cup (90 g) rolled oats
- ⅔ cup (150 ml) warm milk
- 2 medium apples, grated or finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or almonds
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, optional
- 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, optional
- A pinch of salt
- Vegetable oil or cooking spray, for greasing
Instructions
- Prepare the apples:
Wash, peel if desired, and grate or finely chop the apples. If they release a lot of liquid, gently squeeze out some of the excess. - Soak the oats:
Place the rolled oats in a bowl and pour over the warm milk. Stir and let stand for about 2–3 minutes. - Mix the wet ingredients:
Add the eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and honey or maple syrup if using. Mix well. - Add the apples and nuts:
Stir in the prepared apples, chopped walnuts or almonds, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until evenly combined. - Prepare the pan:
Lightly grease a small baking dish or 8-inch (20-cm) round/ square pan with vegetable oil or cooking spray. - Bake:
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden. - Cool and serve:
Let it cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or chilled.
🍎 Quick Option
For a faster individual portion, spoon the mixture into a greased microwave-safe ramekin and microwave for about 2–3 minutes, checking frequently until set.
Storage
