Slow-Cooker Honey Garlic Chops (Melt-in-Your-Mouth)
Prep: 15 minutes
Cooktime: 4 hours (High) or 6-7 hours (Low)
Serve: 3-4 servings
Ingredients:
- 4 thick bone-in or boneless chops (Chicken, Lamb, or Beef as per choice)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup pure honey
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup or chili sauce (for that rich color seen in image)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (optional, to thicken gravy)
Instructions:
1: Pat the meat pieces completely dry with a paper towel. Season them lightly on both sides with a pinch of salt, black pepper, and onion powder.
2: Heat olive oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Sear the pieces for 2–3 minutes on each side just until a beautiful golden-brown crust forms. This locks in the juices (do not skip this step!).
3: Transfer the seared meat pieces directly into the bottom of your slow cooker or a heavy-bottomed deep pot (patila), arranging them side by side just like in image.
4: In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, ketchup, and remaining black pepper to create the glaze.
5: Pour this sweet and savory honey-garlic glaze evenly over the meat, making sure every piece is fully coated.
6: Cover with the lid. Cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or on HIGH for 3.5–4 hours until the meat is completely tender and breaks apart easily with a fork.
7: For the Glossy Thick Gravy: Carefully remove the tender meat pieces from the pot and set aside. Pour the remaining liquid/sauce into a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the cornstarch-water mixture and simmer for 2–3 minutes until it thickens into a shiny, rich glaze.
8: Place the meat back into the slow cooker, pour the thickened glossy glaze all over them as shown in image, and let it absorb the juices for 5 minutes before serving hot with steamed rice or mashed potatoes!
