Ingredients
For the Beef
1 lb (450 g) beef strips
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp olive oil
For the Sauce
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
1 tbsp oyster sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
ΒΌ cup (60 ml) water
For Garnish
Chopped green onions
Sesame seeds
Instructions
Coat the beef: Pat the beef strips dry with paper towels. Place them in a bowl and toss thoroughly with the cornstarch until lightly coated.
Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar or honey, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, and water. Set aside.
Sear the beef: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer, working in batches if necessary. Cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, until browned and crispy. Remove the beef and set aside.
Caramelize the glaze: Reduce the heat to medium. Pour the sauce into the same skillet and bring it to a gentle simmer. Cook for 2–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened and glossy.
Combine: Return the beef to the skillet and toss well to coat every piece in the sticky glaze. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, allowing the sauce to cling to the beef.
Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
